Birmingham native soul-pop, singer-songwriter, vocal arranger and backing vocalist Jules Rendell releases the official visual to her thought-inducing new Feranmi Oguns and Bastian Testori from OL Music produced single “Old Friend.” A record like this one doused with intent, reflection and ardor separates Rendell from other musical creatives. Good friends are hard to come by but friends that motivate you and ground you are even more sparse.
Rendell says, “I wanted to make music that reflected the sounds of the city I live in, and its pressures. When I was writing for the album, I felt such pressure around me; traveling at a million miles an hour but feeling like I was getting nowhere, concerned by how much sway ‘success’ had on my self-worth. So I left London to see one of my oldest friends in Manchester and I felt centered again; I remembered who I was meant to be.”
Over the years, Rendell has shared the stage with artists such as JP Cooper, Beverley Knight, Gorillaz to name a few. TV and film credits include OH TV, The Ayala Show, BBC 1Xtra live session (with vocal group Get Gospel) and a placement on US feature film, ‘The Father’s Love’ for her song ‘Thank You.’ Check out her latest single with its’ city-life soundscapes and valiant electronic waves below, a must listen.
