J.Cole and Rapsody Release Lyrically Heavy New Record Aptly Titled “Sojourner”

To be as woke as these two lyrical masterminds is to be an insomniac.

J. Cole and Rapsody just released a pivotal record fittingly titled “Sojourner” off the 9th Wonder Presents: Jamla is the Squad II album set to release on November 9th. A conscience record such as this will be listened to 30 years from now and from it you’ll be able to determine the state of our society at that moment – a time capsule track of sorts. J. Cole spews out lines like, “Just heard these kids don’t know ‘bout Malcolm and I’m sort of heartbroken ‘cause the elders lost hope in our youth and here I sit dead in the middle not a little boy no more but not quite old yet, waking up in cold sweats.” Rapsody gifts us that same transparency with bars like, “Maybe, I’ll be the next Black Beatle like Swae Lee / Yeah I know my worth these colonizers got to pay me / Yeah I had to go first ‘cause the rest would never last / I had to show the positives for those that couldn’t add / looking at the ads they only love us if our a** out.”

“Sojourner” like the activist bares the truth, harnesses personal and generational shortcomings and embraces the positivity, the hope of our generation, the pulse of modern music. Take a listen below!
