Is This Country Enough for You, Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus “Old Town Road”

“We was praisin’ Billboard but we were young / Now I look at Billboard like ‘Is you dumb?” – JAY-Z “What’s Free”

Recently Billboard decided that Lil Nas X “Old Town Road” wasn’t country enough for their country charts. “While the song “incorporates references to country and cowboy imagery, it does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version,” Billboard told Rolling Stone

How do you step on Billboard’s neck for their insanely inaccurate and bias decision to remove a classic record – you put the legendary and ikonic Billy Ray Cyrus on your remix.

Clapback season in full effect.

Billy Ray Cyrus tweeted, “ .@LilNasX Been watching everything going on with OTR. When I got thrown off the charts, Waylon Jennings said to me “Take this as a compliment” means you’re doing something great! Only Outlaws are outlawed. Welcome to the club!“

“Old Town Road”“ represents the perfect amalgamation of country and trap music gifting it a distinctive sound doused in heavy bass and inevitable head-bob tendencies. Music doesn’t always fit neatly into one genre box sometimes it sifts between multiple genres thus giving the record mass appeal and a diverse listening experience.

Billy Ray Cyrus , an undeniable country music G.O.A.T, sings about Maserati sports cars, rock-star living, diamond rings and Fendi sports bras. This record will top charts, rather it’s Billboard or otherwise the world will take notice to this indisputable banger that doesn’t only cross genre lines but literally incorporates two different generations of musicianship on one track.

Defying the odds takes a special and rebellious soul. The 19-year-old Atlanta based artist will make history for this record and many more to come.
