Notorious for her single “Leave (Get Out),” which released 15 years ago, it’s refreshing to hear JoJo back on the scene alongside industry newcomer CHIKA.
Her new hit single “Sabotage” has garnered some noteworthy attention and now the official James Larese directed visual premiers. It’s an artistic display of falling buildings and shattering concrete as a scorned JoJo pours her heart out on the track singing, “Man, it got so ugly (ugly)/ I was begging you to stay when you left our house / Said you never loved me (loved me) / Had me ducking all the venom flying out your mouth.”
JoJo’s always possessed a natural knack for lyrical expression amid an amazing vocal range and spine-chilling execution.
She features rising emcee phenom CHIKA to add another layer scripted density as she raps, “Yeah, I’m often at it admittedly got a habit / Of getting in my own way / While I’m wishing that I could have it / The picket fences and pictures of family And foreign fabrics, I know.”
A dope collaboration; check it out.
