IKONIC MUSIC FRIDAY: New Music from Jadakiss, Megan Thee Stallion, Jhené Aiko & More!

Megan Thee Stallion releases her promised EP Suga amid some label renegotiation’s. The project includes nine tracks amid features from Kehlani and Gunna. Her top-charting single “B.I.T.C.H” caught the world’s attention but we didn’t know that a project would follow up so closely after its release but we’re grateful.

The Houston hottie takes to the Breakfast Club this morning and of the album she states, “Suga is basically just like a girl who is going through it but she getting through it, it’s like me basically letting people know that I’m not perfect, I’m a human. I know I be f***ing up but I be trying.”

It’s a compilation of records that appeal to her humanity amidst her Hot Girl status. She’s definitely spitting on this project and it forces naysayers to respect her craft as an emcee. Check it out above and watch the “B.I.T.C.H” official visual below.

Jadakiss, a living rap ikon, releases his new album Ignatius after a brief delay. The project’s named after the late Ruff Ryders A&R/producer and manager Ignatius “Icepick Jay” Jackson. It’s a compilation with a star-studded line up including features from Nino Man, John Legend, Rick Ross, Pusha T and more.

As we enter into a new decade of hip-hop it’s evident that the appetite for real bars has resurfaced. From inevitable classics like “Me” to RnB jams like “(NYB) Need Your Best” to lyrical slaughters like “Huntin Season” he gifts us versatility and wicked wordplay.

It’s a notable addition to his archives; check it out above.

Jhené Aiko, the blunt butterfly, the steamy vocalist, the vibe-setter, releases her highly anticipated new LP Chilombo dipped in 20 records alongside features from John Legend, Ty Dolla $ign, H.E.R and more.

It’s a project that can just play out, no need to skip around or play it out of order but just let it ride as she lyrically tells tales of love, strength, recovery and rebirth. She’s more than a petite beauty but a true music industry trailblazer.

Of the album she states, “In a sense, I am like a volcano, and this album is an eruption.”

Chilombo – an impressive detonation, a classic offering; indulge above.

These are dark times, from early demises to police brutality to the worldwide taste of hate on too many tongues, it’s an imperative time to spread love.

BJ The Chicago Kid delivers a potent record that listens like an out-pour of emotions and a need for unity.

He sings, “We’ve got to get stronger / Stronger as the people / We’ve got to get smarter/ Smarter as a unit/ And watch out for our children /Because they are our future / Appreciate our women/ Because they bear our fruits, yeah-yeah…

A beautiful ode of positivity and inspiration; take a listen above.
