I seen the above tweet from @EuphemiaSpeaks and it immediately resonated with me.
How dedicated are you to your purpose? Do you treat it like wifey or do you treat it like a side-piece? Do you focus on it here and there or on a daily, weekly or monthly basis? You can’t be part-time dedicated and expect full-time results. Your purpose is something that you are driven to, something personally embedded within your spirit. You can’t put it on hold for months or years because its something you have to do not something you do when you “feel” like it.
What’s your purpose?
I’m a writer, that’s my thing, that’s my legacy, that’s my favorite pastime. We all want to feel like we have a purpose, like there’s a reason for our very existence and there is, somewhere between your likes and dislikes, what makes you smile and what makes you frown, what makes you happy and what makes you sad – it’s in there, it’s in you. However, if you are only semi-dedicated to that purpose, it will never fulfill you, it will never be your claim to fame because you’re not giving your all. Would you walk out of the house with only half of your hair done? Would you only mow half of your lawn? Would you only paint half of your house? No. No and no, so why would you dedicate half of your energy to something your allegedly passionate about? When you’re truly passionate about something you can’t escape its pull.
Don’t force your passion.
How many hours a week are you willing to dedicate to your passion? I believe 20 to 30 hours is fair but obviously dedicate more time if you can. If 20 to 30 hours seems like a lot , divide it by seven and you’ll realize that’s only three or four hours a day on average. Furthermore, be realistic, some days are going to be busier than others, dedicate more time on days that are less frenzied. You have the time but if you also have all the excuses you’ll never turn your passion into wifey. Marry your passion, don’t one-night it. You got this!
