Shine When It’s Your Time

“Don’t compare your life to others. There’s no comparison between the sun and the moon, they shine when it’s their time.” – Stephanie J. Brown

This generation more than any other is focused on the timelines of others, constant social media and YouTube guru life comparisons but, wouldn’t it be easier to just be like the sun and the moon? Your time is called “yours” for a reason. Just because someone else was a tech-start-up millionaire by the age of 21 doesn’t mean that you aren’t as awesome as he or she is just because you’re 25 and comfortably maintaining. We’re all on our own, distinct, idiosyncratic timeline. Why do you feel a need to compare the success timeline of others to your own?

One more time for those in the back.

Why do you feel a need to compare the success timeline of others to your own?

Do you know why I think you do it? It’s simple – because you know its possible. You know that it’s possible to become a 21-year-old self-made millionaire. You know it’s possible to achieve a body that’s close to perfection. You know it’s possible to be a 23-year-old home owner. You know it’s possible to travel all 50 states before the age of 30 etc. You know its all possible and that’s why you feel less than. Well, who the f***’s fault is that? Put the work in but, don’t hate on the sun because it shines when it’s supposed to. Your time is coming or it’s already here; either way, be proud of you. If you’re not proud of you who else can be?

If you are behind your own success curve, that’s your fault. Step your game up. Work harder. Do more. Learn more. Network more. Stop letting time run you, own your time – it yours. Abandon those negative comparisons. Get inspired by the elite of the world, not envious. Some of the elite were born into it, don’t count them. However, those that turned mud into wine, follow them, be inspired, be intentional about your days, weeks, months and years.

You got this!
