By now, I’m sure you’ve heard the word ‘Clubhouse’ buzzing around on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and you’re probably wondering – what is it? Clubhouse is an invite only, audio-based networking app that’s only suitable for Apple devices at the moment but, I’m sure soon they will branch out to include Android devices as well.
It’s essentially the product of when social media meets a chatroom.
You make your profile and there’s no limit on the amount of characters you can use to describe yourself, your business, your brand etc. People can follow you on Clubhouse and you can follow them back but you can also follow different “rooms” that interest you. For example, if you are interested in learning about Cryptocurrency – there’s a room for that. If you are interested in networking with entrepreneurs, tech-start-ups, indie authors, musicians etc. – there’s a room for ALL of that.
Should you be on Clubhouse?
Of course! The world was in a bit of a tizzy for 2020 thus networking events were halted and moved to some virtual space – everything is beginning to move to a virtual space. Yes, live and in person networking events will make a comeback and when they do, hit the pavement but Clubhouse gifts you the opportunity to network with people from all over the world, pitch your brand, gain mentorship etc. Furthermore, you don’t have to be a co-founder of Clubhouse or a social media hotshot to start your own room and begin to build your own community of like minds. You can also select your interests on Clubhouse so that your “timeline,” if you will, will include chats that would be of value to you.
Additionally, when you join a chat you can raise your hand to ask questions or you can be added as a speaker. You will get an opportunity to speak once the “moderator” a.k.a the “host” of the chat invites you to come on as a speaker. It’s not as nerve racking as a video chat with a million eyes staring back at you as you speak – it’s more comfortable. However, don’t forget in all that comfort that this is still a networking hub, utilize it. Your network is your net worth!
How do you get on Clubhouse?
It is invite only. Someone in your network of friends or family etc. would have to invite you onto the platform. Once you’re on – get busy, get active, attend chats and network!
I will be hosting some chats in the next couple of weeks for my store KulturallyAppropriate.com and for my blog, of course. My chats will discuss everything from the culture to relationships to personal advice to finances etc. The topics will vary but the goal is the same – to network and feed off one another.

Follow me on Clubhouse @MissIkonic. Click on the bell next to my profile and you will be notified whenever I am hosting a chat.
It’s the start of 2021, start it off by increasing your network. Go get it – it’s free!
If you found this article helpful, insightful or just plain old necessary please share and repost – it’s free and I’d gladly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
