I feel like it was March, then October and now it’s New Year’s Eve! Can you believe it?
How do you feel about 2021?
What did you learn?
What did you accomplish?
What are you grateful for?
What could you have done better?
Are you excited for the new year?
I am beyond excited for 2022! I am claiming nothing but greatness for this upcoming year. What about you?
The new year gifts you an opportunity to start over, to set new goals, to cleanse yourself, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and yes, you could start over at any time in the year but 01/01 feels like the beginning of something. It’s now time, if you haven’t already, to set your goals for 2022!

I categorize my goals by the following:
- Financial Goals
- Skills Goals
- Business Goals
- Fitness/Body Goals
- Travel Goals
- Spiritual Goals
- Personal Goals
Let’s elaborate on these categories. Financial goals appears to be self explanatory, however, be sure to get specific. I am not telling you that there is a right or wrong way to set goals but being particular about those goals makes them easier to achieve. For example, don’t just say, “I want to save $20,000 by the end of the year.” Do the math! How much money do you need to save per month or what extra streams of income do you need to acquire to achieve that goal?
Skills goals are not a must but, for me it’s imperative that every year I garner a new skill or set of skills because I’m in my prime. I’m a sponge right now and I plan on soaking up all that I can. But again, be specific about your desired skills, look up courses, follow Youtube gurus that specialize in that skill etc. Business goals is optional as well. If you are not a business owner, you wouldn’t need this category but if you desire to be an entrepreneur, set some goals that would help you get closer to that reality. If you are already a business owner, set goals that will help scale and improve your business. Hire outside help, social media managers, Facebook ads experts etc. and invest in yourself as well rather that be courses or networking events – do all that you can!
Of course, if you know me, or follow me on Instagram @MissIkonic, you know that I am currently working on my goal body thus I’m always sure to include my fitness goals. I added travel goals to my goals categories this year because I love to travel and sometimes I forget about that in the monotony of my day to day but not this year!
Spiritual goals is another optional category and in it you may include whatever you desire. I want to pray more, meditate more, learn to worry less etc. Lastly – personal goals – you probably think that all of these goals are personal and that’s true enough. However, under my personal goals I will include healing from family trauma, learning how to love myself more, cutting off people that don’t benefit my growth etc. It’s completely up to you but, personal goals is one of the most essential categories because when you are not your best self, you don’t perform well and poor performance will lead to goals not met!
After setting your goals, you should feel excited, not overwhelmed. Being realistic is not the same as being pessimistic, set goals that will challenge you but goals that you believe you can achieve nonetheless.
Happy goal setting and Happy New Year!
