It’s 2022! Stop attempting to prove people wrong. Let them assume what they will. You’re probably thinking, “Well, that’s easier said than done,” and that’s true enough, if you care what others think of you.
Do you care about what other people think of you?
By default, you want to provide the strong, laissez faire answer of, “No.” And if that’s true, great – but if it’s not, you need to work on that. People will always have an opinion about you but it’s not your responsibility to carry it. It’s not your job to be liked or revered or accepted – it’s just an option. However, life is better spent controlling the aspects of it that you can instead of obsessing over the things you can’t. People make assumptions about me all the time and each time I tell them that they’re right.
“You think you’re all that,” – you’re right!
“Deep down your insecure,” – you’re right!
“Your single,” – you’re right!
“Your in a relationship,” – you’re right!
“You got lip injections,” – you’re right!
No matter what, I allow people to believe that they’re right. Why? Because I know my truth and I live it everyday. I’m good with me, the world doesn’t have to be as well. We’re doused in constant opinions, likes, comments, followers, expectations etc. It can be overwhelming. You can lessen the pressure by trying the following:
- Take social media breaks. Most opinions are housed there.
- Strengthen your mind. Read more. Meditate. Pray. When the mind is weak, it’s easily penetrated.
- Be careful how you talk to yourself. What you think is what you become.
- You don’t have to show up to every argument or negative conversation you are invited to. Practice an “Access Denied” mentality.
You got this!
