Wow! There are only four months left in 2022. How do you feel about that? Excited? Confident? Anxious? Accomplished? Inspired? (Try saying that five times fast.)
I feel amazing and blessed but I also feel a little overwhelmed. Did I do enough this year? Do I have enough time left to accomplish my yearly goals? Am I being too hard on myself? I’m my biggest and worst critic and sometimes that critical approach benefits me while other times it stifles me. I set my bar high but I also give myself grace.
In 2022, I’ve accomplished so much already but it’s not just about the big goals, it’s about the small goals too. Yes, I’ve exceeded my savings goal and traveled more than I anticipated but I also worked out consistently, read a book or two every month, prayed daily etc. and those little goals matter too. Keeping my body in shape sharpens my mind, praying daily keeps me encouraged, uplifted and resilient and reading keeps me entertained and informed.
As we slide into September, I have a couple of tasks for you.
Task #1: Read one or more books. The type of book doesn’t matter, just be sure to spend some time this month reading, in silence or at the park etc.
Task #2: Save half of your monthly income. Yes, half – make it work!
Task #3: Workout three times or more a week. Your body is a vehicle. It can take you wherever you want to go – let it, strengthen it, use it.
Task #4: Pray daily. (This is optional, although I believe this is an essential task. Set a reminder in your phone every morning for you to pray until it becomes natural.)
Task #5: Form a good habit. Start waking up early. Start drinking more water. Start your day off reading a book instead of scrolling through Instagram. Call your mom more. Pray more. Incorporate more vegetables into your diet etc. Bad habits can be formed but so can good ones. That daily Starbucks run can be replaced with an actual run – remember that.
Don’t be lazy during these lasts four months of the year. Keep that same momentum you had when the year started – you’ll be proud of yourself, I know I already am.
Now get busy – you got this!
